The Blue Tide trailed by four going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but scored three runs to narrow the Heron lead to 6-5.
In the seventh inning, Jake Durham hit the game tying single, and then Paul Lewandoski slammed a hit down the middle to  make the score 7-6.
Long County coach Wayne Sasser used Brandon Simmons, Ryan Simmons and Britt Horne on the mound Tuesday and Horne earned the win.
According to pitching coach Brian Thomas, all three pitched well.
Sasser was especially pleased with the way the entire team never quit and rallied for the win.
“This was one of our best efforts of the season,” he said. “It was encouraging to see our guys come together to win the game.”
The Tide pounded out 12 hits. Bryan Wingate led the Tide, going 3-for-4. Shane White, Stevie Harrison and Lewandoski each had two hits apiece.
With the win, Long County is 3-7 in Region 2-AA, three games behind Appling County for the coveted fourth place slot to qualify for the state playoffs.
The Blue Tide still need help to make the playoffs, but they still are alive.
Their remaining four games are aregion games and to have any chance, they must win out.
Tonight, they travel to Hazelhurst to play Jeff Davis (6-3 region) at 6 p.m.
