The Blue Tide Baseball Team picked up their seventh win of the season on Friday, beating a game Brantley County Team, 11-6.
Led with solid pitching from Ryan Simmons and a homerun by Blake Strickland, the Tide picked up their second region win and their seventh overall.
The current 2-AA Region Standings have Pierce County still on top with a 3-0 region record and a 9-0 overall mark, while Savannah Christian Academy (3-0 and 5-5) is in second, Long County (2-1 and 7-2) is in third, Jeff Davis (1-1 and 4-4) is in fourth, Appling County (1-2 and 6-3) is in fifth, McIntosh County (1-2 and 3-7) is in sixth, Charlton County (1-3 and 5-4) is in seventh, and Brantley County (0-3 and 3-7) is in eighth place.
Long County took on Bradwell Institute yesterday in Hinesville, but those results were not available. Even though the Tigers have won only one game, when the two teams met earlier this month in Ludowici, the game was very competitive with The Blue getting the win 9-5.
The Blue Tide travel to take on the Jeff Davis High School on Tuesday. The Jackets come into that game with four losses, but two of those were by only one run, and the other two were also tight.
Long County has been hot lately, winning seven of their last eight games, and the team still has the number one offense in the 2-AA Region, averaging more than 10 runs a game.
The Jeff Davis game on Tuesday will start at 6 p.m. in Hazlehurst.
