After scoring her career 1,000th point last week, Bradwell Institute’s Taniyah Bowman helped open the Lady Tigers region slate with a torrid shooting performance.
Bowman hit 7 of 9 3-point shots, finishing with 28 points, and the Lady Tigers rolled to a 6142 victory over Ware County on Wednesday.
Parris Parham nearly turned in a triple double, scoring 10 points, handing out 10 assists and pulling down nine rebounds.
Bailey Gilmore added 14 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Bowman had 14 points, and Parham and Ja’Nya Bush had 12 points each as the Lady Tigers routed Coffee 55-29, despite making only one 3-point basket as a team.
Gilmore pulled down 12 rebounds, while Bowman registered five assists and six steals. Bush also collected nine rebounds, and Ta’tayna Anderson finished with nine points.
The Tiger boys split their first two region games, falling 51-49 to Ware County in Wednesday’s region opener. Elyjah Thurmon had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers. TahShaun Frasier had 13 points.
Glenden Hadden hit four 3s to lead the Gators with 18 points.
Bradwell bounced back to claim a 65-57 win on the road Friday night at Coffee to even their region record at 1-1. Frasier paced the Tigers with 21 points, 11 assists and six steals. Chris Perry added 10 points. Thurmon chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds.
Bradwell returns to Region 1-AAAAA action on January 10 against Jenkins.
