Carter shines in Liberty victory

Liberty County High School softball pitcher Kathryn Carter pitched a perfect game Tuesday, leading the Lady Panthers to a 13-0 win in four innings at Windsor Forest in a Region 3-AAAA game.

Carter struck out nine of the 12 batters she faced.

Adding to Carter’s success on the mound, the Lady Panthers’ offense was strong. Liberty scored four times in the first inning and added three runs in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth inning to close the game by the run rule.

Lady Panther Serena Davenport was 4 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. Rachel Smith was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Tia Anderson was 1 for 2 with a run scored, and Diamond Richardson was 1 for 2 with two runs scored. Taylor Rine had two RBIs and Dejah Smith had one RBI. Cassidy Collum scored two runs, while Carter and Riley Davis each scored a run.

Liberty County is 13-11 overall and 3-2 in the region. As of today, the Lady Panthers are third in the region standings.

Liberty hosts Windsor Forest at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
