The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association recently selected Long County softball pitcher Harley Dawson to its 2015 All-State Class AA team.

Head softball coach Brian Thomas said Dawson made the squad as second-team selection. Dawson had a 9-10 record with a 1.13 ERA on the mound, striking out 236 batters. She also had a .419 batting average, with five home runs and 28 RBIs.

“Dawson was a key player on the Lady Blue Tide team that finished 17-12, which was the most wins for the softball team in over a decade,” Thomas said.

Dawson signed a full scholarship in November to play for Columbus State next year. Dawson said she plans to major in exercise science, then pursue a career in athletic training.

As a four-year starter with the Lady Blue Tide, Dawson won several awards, including being named to the 2-AA All-Region team for all four years.
“I am so very happy for Harley,” Thomas said. “She was been such a hard worker, and I’m glad to see that she has been recognized for her talents by the rest of the softball coaches across the state.”
