Golden, Lockhart Earn All-SIAC Honors

ATLANTA -- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released their all-conference team on Nov. 15, 2021, and among those being recognized for their play during the 2021 season were Antonio Golden and Kenneth Lockhart.

 

Golden is a senior defensive lineman at Fort Valley State University and Lockhart is a freshman punter/kicker at Savannah State University. Golden graduated from Liberty County High School while Lockhart is a Bradwell Institute grad.

 

Golden, a Midway resident, earned All-SIAC First Team honors while Lockhart, of Hinesville, was selected for the Second Team.

 

The team, which features 26 student-athletes covering eleven positions, was voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

 

Golden (6-4, 230) finished the season with 50 tackles (27 solo, 23 assists). He also had 19.5 tackles for loss for 83 yards, eight sacks for 52 yards, seven quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles.

 

Lockhart (6-0, 190) averaged 42 yards per punt with nine being 50 yards or longer and 12 landing inside the opponents 20-yard line. He had a long of 58 yards. As a placekicker, he made six of ten field goal attempts with a long of 44 yards. Lockhart also made 32 of 35 extra point attempts.

Kentucky State University running back Brett Sylve was named Offensive Player of the Year alongside Lane College running back, Ike Brown, who earned Freshman of the Year. 
 
Defensive lineman, Jamal Holloway of Central State University was tabbed Newcomer of the Year. Gabe Giardina of Albany State was named the 2021 SIAC Coach of the Year.

 

Albany State paced the all-conference teams with nine selections. Fort Valley State and Savannah State followed up with seven selections respectively ahead of Morehouse College, Miles College, and Lane who had six all-conference selections. Clark Atlanta University and Kentucky State placed three on this year’s all-conference teams preceding Benedict College and Central State who had two selections respectively. Tuskegee University rounded out the 2021 SIAC Football All-Conference team with one selection.
