HOA referees honored

Trading in zebra stripes for casual attire and suits, the Hinesville Officials Association honored its members during the group’s annual banquet Dec. 16.

HOA President John Dean and Vice President Henry Baker handed out plaques while officials and their friends and family dined on a catered meal.

Sandy Strickland received the HOA award for baseball, Lamont Garrison was honored for basketball, Charles Pray received an award for football, Scott Eisenhuit received a plaque for softball and Rey Voisine took home an award for volleyball officiating.

Charles Pray, Dale R. McNeel, James Simmons and Pete Simmons were honored for their 15 years of service.

Charles Clarkson was recognized for his 20 years on the HOA. Alvin Thomson and Roosevelt Johnson were honored for 30 and 35 years of service respectively.

William Hall received a special certificate of appreciation for his dedicated service of 50 years as an athletic official for the Georgia High School Association.

Bill Downs was honored with the Former Presidents Award, and the late Donell Woods Award was presented by Yvonne Woods to Warnella Wilder.
