The Long County softball team got in its second practice game of the year Thursday, hosting Brunswick in a scrimmage.
The teams played five innings and the Pirates won 5-1. The teams also got preparation playing in the clutch, as they played two extra tie-breaker innings.
Pitching for the Lady Tide was Rylie Poppell and Ainsley Dawson, while their leading batters for the night were Chante Thomas and Ravae Rose.
Long County head coach Brian Thomas said overall he was pleased with his players’ performance.
“I thought that we played well,” Thomas said. “We just need to clean up a few defensive issues. We came back from three runs down to win one of the two tie-breakers, which I was happy with.”
Monday, the two teams will play again, but this time it will be for real as they open their seasons. The game will be in Glynn County at Coastal Georgia College. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
