The Long County High School Lady Blue Tide basketball team finally tasted victory last week when they defeated the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers. The boys kept their season rolling by also defeating the Buccaneers and getting revenge on Wayne County.

The girls (1-6) pulled away from MCA late in the game to pull out the 48-34 win over the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Tide followed that big win with their second loss to Wayne County as they fell 41-14. They will look to get back on the winning track Friday, Dec. 14 as they travel to Brantley County for their first region game of the season.

The boys got a much-needed dominating win over the Buccaneers as they moved to a 79-39 victory. The Blue Tide were never trailing in the game as they jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead over MCA. They went into halftime with a 44-19 lead and junior Trajan Weatherspoon leading the team with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

The Blue Tide built on to their lead slowly throughout the second half as they moved on to the forty-point win. Weatherspoon finished with a dominating 22 points and 20 rebounds.

They also exacted some revenge on Friday, Dec. 7 as they defeated Wayne County 59-53. Weatherspoon led the team with 14 points and Nathan Francis also added 13 points. The Blue Tide now move to 4-3 on the year with their second-straight win.
