Ludowici, GA -- This past week was supposed to be a busy one for the Long County Lady Blue Tide softball team, but after a COVID cancellation and a rainout, the team finally got to host the Tattnall County Lady Warriors on Thursday, Aug. 26.

However, the team dropped their third straight Region 1-3A contest with a 10-1 loss.

One weakness the Lady Tide have tried to overcome this season is their plate performance.

They struggled to do so again as they produced just one hit in the first four innings.

The Lady Warriors, on the other hand, wasted little time to jump on the board. They jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning and just never looked back from there.

They recorded eight hits in the first three innings while Lady Tide senior pitcher Sam Pitts struck out three in the same stretch.

At the top of the sixth, the Warriors added a run on an error and a stand up triple to push their lead to 8-0 before the Lady Tide were finally able to answer.

Pitts cracked a double - her second hit of the game while Mehana Naki advanced her on a double.

Lanie Williams got her team on the board with a single RBI, but that was the only run they could muster as the Tide fell 10-1.

With the loss, the Lady Tide are now 2-4 and 0-3 in the region.

They will host Pierce County in a remake on Monday, Aug. 30 at 5:30.
