Lady Tigers take fight for top spot in region

The Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers kept their Region 1-AAAAA perfect record intact with a 53-41 win over Statesboro on Tuesday.

With the win, the Lady Tigers improved to 15-2 on the season and 5-0 in the region. Statesboro fell to 15-4 overall and 4-1 in the region.

Taniyah Bowman poured in a game-high 25 points, going 5-of-9 from 3-point range, while pulling down eight rebounds. Parris Parham added 11 points.

Ashari Washington led Statesboro with 20 points.

In the boys game, the host Blue Devils overcame a 14-point deficit to pull out a 43-40 win.

The Blue Devils outscored the Tigers 16-4 in the fourth quarter.

Elyjah Thurmon had 11 points and nine rebounds for Bradwell. Jamel Jackson registered eight points, five rebounds and four steals.

The Tigers fell to 10-6 on the season and 3-2 in the region with the loss.

An 18-2 run in the third quarter propelled the Lady Tigers to a 51-26 win over Coffee last Friday.

Taniyah Bowman had a game-high 21 points for the Lady Tigers, going 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Bailey Gilmore posted a double-double with 13 points and 11rebounds, and Parris Parham added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and six steals.

With the win, Bradwell improved to 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the region.

Elyjah Thurmon scored 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Tigers to a 49-36 win over the Trojans boys.

Tahshuan Frazier registered 10 points and five steals in the win.

Bradwell held Coffee to 1-of-14 on 3-point shooting. Trent Wilson topped the Trojans, who were just 16-of-54 from the field, with nine points.

Bradwell improved to 10-5 on the season and 3-1 in the region.

Bradwell travels to Greenbrier on Saturday and hosts Ware County at Liberty County High School on Tuesday for a pair of region doubleheaders.
