Liberty County freshman Jazminn Lee posted the best throw and Ariana Fields took the pole vault in the Class AAA state sectionals track meet Monday at Albany’s Hugh Mills Stadium.
Lee had a top throw of 114 feet, 7 inches in the discus, earning a spot in next weekend’s state track meet at the University of Georgia’s Spec Towns Track. Field put up a best of 7 feet, 0 inches in the pole vault.
Amiyah Payne was third in the third in the girls high jump at 4-10 and took fifth in the triple jump at 36-4.5.
Caheim Anderson had the best finish for the boys with a tops of 10 feet in the pole vault, giving him third place.
Omari Hill also qualified for the state meet with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash. Hill hit the line in 10.94 seconds. Noel Best qualified for the state meet with a sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.46 seconds.
Rashaud Woods was seventh in the 300 hurdles at 41.03 seconds, earning a spot in the state finals, and Best was eighth at 41.27. also earning a spot in the state meet. Montavius Johnson placed eight after his best of 6 feet in the pole vault.
Demetrius Russell was seventh in the 800 meter run, finishing at 2:01.87.
