Liberty County High School will play at Effingham County Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Rebels are 3-2. Effingham lost to Coffee County and Thomson but have since beaten South Effingham, Statesboro and Burke County.
There is history between the Panthers and the Rebels. So far, the Rebels lead the series 10-5 since 1994. Last year’s contest was close with Liberty County falling 20-14.

Last year, the Rebels passed for 1,217 yards and 14 touchdowns. However most of that was from seniors Jake Dangerfield and Phillip Brown. Both have since graduated. Led by Brown, Effingham rushed for 1,452 yards.
Current junior Zebrandon Gant had 252 rushing yards and one touchdown on carries. He caught two passes for 55 yards last season.
The Rebels currently do not have stats posted for this season.

Liberty is 4-0 with 937 passing yards and 793 rushing yards to date. Panther quarterback Jaalon Frazier is responsible for 837 passing yards and 13 TDs. He also leads the team in rushing yards with 305 yards and 4 TDs. Sophomore Kris Coleman is second in rushing with 281 yards and a TD. Elisha Polite, who tweaked his ankle in last Friday’s win over New Hampstead, is third with 111 yards.

Polite leads the team in receptions with 16 for 333 yards. Richard LeCounte is second in receptions with 9 for 185 yards and six TDs, Coleman has 9 receptions for 168 yards and is tied with Polite in reception TDs with three.

The Panther defense is led by Traveon Freeman with 39 total tackles including 12 for loss of yards. LeCounte has 31 tackles and Antonio Golden has 29.

This is the final game before Liberty starts Region 2-AAA play at Tattnall County Oct. 7.
