Registration for youth football and cheerleading at the Liberty County Recreation Department runs through Aug. 12. The programs are for 7- to 12-year-olds, as of Sept. 1. Seven-year-olds play flag football and 8- through 12-year-olds play tackle football. Weight restrictions apply to all tackle football. Cost is $20 per child. Equipment is provided, except pants for tackle football players.

Youth soccer
Registration for youth soccer at the Liberty County Recreation Department runs through Aug. 12. This program is for ages 4-17, as of Aug. 1. The fee is $20 per child. Games will be played on weekday evenings at James A. Brown Park, starting Sept. 17.
Baseball, softball academy
Liberty County Recreation Department has also added a fall baseball and softball academy. The new program is for ages 8-14 and provides instruction in all phases of the games. The fee is $30. Eight- to 10-year-olds will meet on Tuesdays and 11- to 14-year-olds will meet on Thursdays, both from 6 to 7:30 p.m., starting Aug. 9 and 11. The program will continue through October.

Volunteer coaches are needed for all programs.
