Former BI star set for national tourney

Former Bradwell Institute softball player Barbara Rego will lead the Georgia Perimeter College squad to St. George, Utah, to participate in the upcoming National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division I softball tournament.
Rego, an outfielder for the Lady Jaguars, helped GPC beat Middle Georgia College, 4-0, last Saturday in the GCAA championship game at Locust Grove.
Rego is leading the Lady Jaguars this season with a .375 batting average and finished the regular season as the GCAA conference leader in stolen bases with 15 in the conference and 29 overall.
Rego has played in 32 games with 64 at bats, 24 hits, three RBIs and 18 runs for the Jaguars. She had one triple in the season.
She also held a .403 on base percentage and .406 slugging average.
The NJCAA National Championship tournament will be held May 15-18.
