First Presbyterian Christian Academy soon will start preparing for its third football season.
According to coach Jamie Sharp, the Highlanders will hit the ground running July 8. That may seem a bit later than other schools, but many potential FPCA players currently are on the Amateur Athletic Union circuit, playing for their respective basketball teams.
According to maxpreps.com, the Highlanders have nine games on the 2014 schedule, with five home games at Long Bell Stadium. All games tentatively start at 7:30 p.m.
The Highlanders still are looking for the program’s first win and have some spots to fill. This year’s team will be without quarterback and all-around player Domonique Kirkley, lineman Ahman Muhammad and kicker Dylan McGarry.
FPCA starts its 2014 season Aug. 22 against Bulloch Academy in Statesboro.
