Lady Highlanders win six games in a row

First Presbyterian Christian Academy’s girls earned their sixth straight soccer win Thursday, beating region rival Frederica Academy 6-1 at home.
Lady ‘Lander Elaina Peterson scored a hat trick. Brooke Standard added two goals, one off an assist by Kelsey Higgasson.
Higgasson also scored a goal.
The Lady Highlanders took 25 shots on goal and the girls held Frederica to eight shots on goal. Summer Mehalko earned the saves as keeper and Cecilia Graham made two big defensive plays, keeping the Lady Knights from scoring.
The girls improve to 10-1 overall and are undefeated at 6-0 in the Georgia Independent School Association Region 2-AA.
The FPCA boys fell, 5-3, to Frederica for the second time this season. The Highlanders are 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the region. The teams were scheduled to play yesterday and will host Bulloch Academy Thursday, beginning at 3 p.m.
In other soccer news, both Liberty County Panthers teams fell to Wayne County in Jesup Thursday. The Panther boys wound up losing 8-0. The boys ended the season 3-8 overall and 2-4 in Region 3A-AAAA. The Lady Panthers lost 8-1 and finished the regular season 1-9, 0-6.
The girls will play at Richmond Academy Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for the start of the region tournament.
The Richmond Academy girls are the number one seed with a 10-5 overall record and an undefeated 4-0 mark in the region.
Bradwell was on the road Friday afternoon playing region opponent Richmond Hill. The final score for the games were not available by press time.
