The Long County High School soccer team recently had nine players recognized for Region 2-AA honors.
Lady Tide senior Kelsey Higgason got the top award on the team, being selected at the region’s offensive player of the year.
Long County’s Nakia Hunter, Taylor Poole and Meagan Higgason were named to the all-region first team; Kaylyn McEwin, Alyssa Anderson and Samantha Garcia made the second team; and Harley Dawson and Katie Estill received honorable mention.
In only their second year of existence, the Lady Tide posted a 10-5 overall record and made it to the state playoffs before being ousted by Putnam County in the first round. The 2015 season looks to be another good one for Long County, despite losing Kelsey Higgason, who graduated Friday. All eight of the other players who were recognized are slated to be back next season.
