Graduates of Bradwell Institute, Liberty County High and Long County High schools were among the 53 student athletes attending Savannah State University who earned spots on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s All-Academic Team.
Football player Sheldon Barnes, softball player Cassie Standard and baseball players John Arnold, Tommy Freeman and Jake Durham were among the honorees.
Barnes, a Bradwell Institute alum, is a Homeland Security major. Standard, who played at Liberty County High School, is an English major. Arnold of Liberty County is majoring in Homeland Security;
Freeman of Long County has yet to declare a major, while fellow former Blue Tide player Durhman is an English major.
The All-Academic Team honors student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
