Long boys win clinches #2 seed in region

The Blue Tide continued their march to post-season play Friday with a 52-44 win over the Herons of Brantley County in Nahunta.
The win gives the boys a 16-6 overall record and 12-2 in Region 2-AA. The victory also clinched the number 2 seed for the Blue Tide in the upcoming region tournament. The Tide boys have now won 10 of their last 11 games.
Results from the Lady Tide game were not available at press time.
Saturday night, Long County teams faced Bradwell Institute in Ludowici. The Tigers went into that game with a 11-11 overall record and a 3-AAAAA mark of 9-7, while the Lady Tigers were 14-8 and 11-4 in the region. A story on those games will be in this Wednesday’s Courier.
The Long County boys have a big home game on Tuesday when Tattnall County comes to town. The Battle Creek Warriors currently have a 12-11 overall record and a 10-5 region mark. Though the Tide have secured the second spot in the region, the Warriors are in a battle for the third spot with McIntosh County that is also 10-5 in the region. 
Tuesday’s game is also senior night with all senior players and cheerleaders being recognized.
The Lady Tide game begins at 6 p.m. and the boys at 8. Both games are in Ludowici.
