The Long County High School football team will take to the field at 5 p.m. tonight for the first time in 2013 when the Blue Tide have an inter-squad scrimmage at Veterans Field.
The offense and defense will play each other to give the coaching staff a chance to see how its starting and backup squads look in real-time action.
Some of the key position changes that have taken place this year are at the skill positions. Multi-talented Vanda Vereen Jr. will line up behind center to lead the offense, while Brendan Scott will be getting a lot of action at halfback and Austin Mills will be in the fullback position.
One area where there will be little change is the offensive line, where Evan Strickland, Cody Smiley and Randall Behrendt return.
On the defense, the coaches have several holes to fill.
They will be looking to see if Ramoine Farlow, James Fox, Michael Stanley and Emanuel Keezer will be up to the challenge to become starters this season.
The Blue Tide is coming off their best season in school history, going 5-5 last season under head coach Ron Flott.
