Panther girls first at track meet
Boys take second in first two meets

The Liberty Panthers girls’ track team scored a total of 156 and 164 points in 15 events to finish in first place, and the boys’ team scored 131 and 169 to place second at the squads’ first two track meets Feb. 24 and March 3 in Hinesville.

 

Feb. 24 results

 

Panther Shakur Cook placed first in the boy’s high jump, clearing 5 feet, 6 inches. Lady Panther Precious Williams placed first in the high jump, clearing 4-8.

Jana Jones, Courtney Rhodes and Briannae Gadson placed first, second and third, respectively, in the girls’ discus throw. Jones hit 112-6, Rhodes cleared 92-10 and Gadson reached 77-4.

Panther Jovan Bennett took first in the boys’ shot put, clearing 45-9 ¾.

Gadson placed second in the girls’ shot put with a toss of 34 feet. Dejah Rucker, Raneisha Grant and Sadrina Sampson placed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the shot put, clearing 26-6, 25-8 and 25-4.

Panther Anthony Watson placed fourth in the boys’ long jump at 13-6. Williams placed second in the girls’ division with a jump of 14-4.

Cook and Panthers teammate Cameron Livingston placed first and second in the triple jump, clearing 38-2 and 25-6, respectively. Williams took the top spot in the girls’ triple jump at 27 feet, 1 inch.

Freshman Lady Panther Andrea Lamboy-Nieto placed third in the 3,200-meter run, coming in at 17 minutes, 38 seconds. Williams finished second in the girls’ 300-meter hurdle with a time of 54.3 seconds.

Junior Panther Willis Bowman took first place in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, coming in at 44.2 seconds.

The Liberty girls took first in the 4x100-meter relay race, finishing in 53.4 seconds. The boys placed on top as well, finishing in 45 seconds.

Bowman took first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.3 seconds.

In the 100-meter dash, Chelsea Hale placed first at 13.7 seconds, and Kristina Bodden placed second at 14.4 seconds. In the boys’ division, Panther Devin Helvis placed third with a time of 11.2, Javon Williams placed fourth with an 11.4 run and Charles Hall placed sixth with a time of 12.1.

Lamboy-Nieto placed third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 8:06. Ajiah Lewis finished first in the girls’ 400-meter dash, clocking in at 1:05, and Lexy Bullard placed fifth, coming in at 1:29.1.

In the boys’ 400-meter dash, Bryan Quintero placed third with a 57.4, and Watson finished fifth with a 1:19.4. Brittney Guilfo placed first in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:58.9. Hale finished first in the 200-meter dash at 28.7 seconds. In the boys’ division, Helvie placed first with a 23.3, and Williams placed third at 24.1.

In the girls’ 4x400-meter relay, the Lady Panthers finished first with a time of 5:35.5, and the boys finished second at 4:04.1.

March 3 Results

 

Panther Tabias Marion leapt 5 feet, 11 inches to claim the No. 1 spot in the boys’ high jump. Shakur Cook placed fourth, leaping 5 feet, 7 inches. Javon Bennett earned the top spot in the discus throw, clearing 143 feet, 9 inches.

Lady Panthers Courtney Rhodes, Jana Jones, Javoni Canty and Briannae Gadson claimed spots one through four, respectively, in the girls’ discus throw. Rhodes hit 107 feet, Jones cleared 104 feet, Canty threw for 98 feet, 7 inches and Gadson cleared 69 feet, 1 inch.

Bennett earned second place in the shot put, hitting 43 feet, 8.5 inches, and Charles Hall placed seventh at 32 feet.

Jones, Courtney Bennett, Gadson and Rhodes claimed the top four spots, respectively, in the shot put. Jones hit the 36 feet, 10 inch mark. Bennett threw for 35 feet, 2 inches, Gadson cleared 32 feet, 5 inches and Rhodes hit 31 feet, 8.5 inches. Raneisha Grant also placed eighth with a toss of 23 feet, 3.5 inches.

Tucory Rhodes and DeAnte Bacon finished third and fourth in the boys’ long jump. Rhodes cleared 21 feet, 2 inches and Bacon jumped 20 feet, 7 inches. In the girls’ division, LaShai Richardson jumped 13 feet, 10 inches for second place.

Cook placed second in the triple jump, leaping 39 feet, 4 inches. The girls’ division had Lady Panthers Brittany Brown and Andrea Lowe earning first and second with jumps of 29 feet, 10 inches and 28 feet, 6 inches, respectively.

Justin Dixon claimed third place in the 3200-meter run, coming in at 11:57. Lee Alice Brown took fifth place in the girls’ division, clocking in at 21:49.

In the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Nahtae Thompson and Precious Williams took second and third, finishing at 53.9 seconds and 57.8 seconds, respectively. In the boys’ division, Panther Willis Bowman took first at 43.7 seconds. Melvin King and Andre Haggray placed fourth and fifth at 47.1 and 47.6 seconds, respectively.

Liberty took first and second in the girls’ 4x100-meter relay race at 51.6 and 54.6 seconds. The boys’ relay team claimed first and fourth place with times of 45 and 46.7 seconds.

Bowman took first place in the 110-meter hurdles at 17.2 seconds. Rhodes came in third with a time of 18.9 seconds.

In the girls’ 100-meter dash, Diamond Gadson finished first (13.1), Nakyus Dean claimed second (13.4) and Chelsea Hale took third place (13.4).

In the boys’ heat, Devin Helvie placed second (11.3), DeAnte Bacon placed second (11.7) and Shadrach Thornton placed third (11.7).

Courtney Badger finished eighth in the 1600-meter run, clocking in at 7:49. In the boys’ division, Chris Guilfo finished third (5:19), Brian Quintero placed eighth (6:12) and Anthony Watson came in 10th (7:32).

Ajiah Lewis placed first in the girls’ 400-meter dash (1:03.1), Jalesa Reynolds placed sixth (1:14.5) and Lexy Bullard placed eighth (1:29.1). In the boys’ race, Cornilius Butler placed sixth (1:04.1) and Watson placed seventh (1:12.6).

Badger placed fifth in the 800-meter run, finishing in 3:53, while Dixon placed sixth at 2:27, Guilfo placed seventh with a time of 2:28 and Aaron Polite placed tenth at 3:14.

Hale came in second and Brown came in fourth in the girls’ 200-meter dash. They clocked in at 28.5 and 29.2 seconds, respectively. Helvie took first place in the boys’ race, clocking in at 22.9 seconds. Panther Michael Bratcher finished fifth at 25.1 seconds.

In the girls’ 4x400-meter relay, the Lady Panthers finished second and third at 4:38.9 and 4:52.9. The boys finished third and fifth at 3:55 and 4:04.9.
