Region playoffs under way

Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High School start their respective region playoffs tonight on the road.
Bradwell will travel to Effingham for the Region 3-AAAAA tourney at Effingham County High School. Bradwell’s Lady Tigers were tied with Effingham County for first place but earned the No. 1 seed after winning the coin toss during the weekend. The Lady Tigers will play eighth seed Windsor Forest at 6:30 p.m.
The Bradwell boys’ team, which finished third in the region, also open against Windsor Forest at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Liberty County finished its regular season Saturday with a 55-42 non-region contest loss at Brunswick.
The Panthers ended the regular season with a 9-14 overall mark and a 3-3 Region 3A-AAAA record. The Lady Panthers, who lost, 52-27, on Saturday, finished 2-14 overall and 0-6 in the region.
The Panthers start region play against Cross Creek at 5:30 tonight at Statesboro High School.
The Lady Panthers were scheduled to play Monday against Richmond Academy; results were not available at press time.
First Presbyterian Christian Academy finished its regular season Friday night in Dublin with a 69-32 win over Trinity Christian. The Highlanders improved to 13-5 overall and 8-2 in Region 2-AA of the Georgia Independent School Association classifications.
Chris Guilfo paced FPCA with 17 points, followed by Herbert Roberts with 14 points and Davion Mitchell with 10.
The Highlanders start their region tournament March 2 in Savannah by facing top-seeded Memorial Day. The time has yet to be determined.
The Lady ’Landers finished their season 3-10 overall and 2-8 in the region. Their region bracket was not available by press time.
