The Long County High School football team picked up its first win of the year Friday against Montgomery County, 8-7.
The Blue Tide played the Eagles in Mount Vernon and the rain would not let up.
With the field wet and muddy, both teams struggled on offense and the game was scoreless through three quarters.
In the fourth, the Eagles scored and converted the point-after kick.
After the Tide got the ball back, sophomore Brendan Scott scored on a 46-yard run, narrowing the gap to a point. And coach Ron Flott decided to go for the 2-point conversion.
Scott hammered in for the conversion for the win.
