Athletic-training camp for students planned
BRUNSWICK — Southeast Georgia Health System Sports Medicine Certified Athletic Trainers will provide hands-on training for students entering grades 9-12 during a student athletic-trainer camp July 14-17.
This four-day workshop, held at the SGHS Brunswick campus, is designed to introduce high-school students to the field of sports medicine and athletic training.
No previous experience is needed to attend; however, this year there will be an advanced track for students with prior experience.
Space is limited. Registration for the camp is required and must be submitted by July 1. Cost for the camp is $100 and includes camp materials, lab supplies, camp shirt, lunch and snacks.

Savannah Mile Run planned for Saturday
The eighth annual Savannah Mile Run is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday at Forsyth Park.
The 1-mile, all-out run begins on the south side of the park, continues down Drayton Street, finishing on Broughton Street. This race attracts all levels of participants, from children to experienced runners. The Savannah Mile will include five heats and feature a fun-run family heat and five age-group heats.
All proceeds go to The 200 Club, which provides financial and educational assistance to the families of police and firefighters who are killed in the line of duty.
