Deadline for Long Co. rec sports is Thursday
Long County boys and girls interested in playing football or cheerleading can pick up an application at the Long County Recreation Complex.
The ages to play football are 7-12 and for cheerleading are 5-12.  
The deadline for turning in applications is Aug. 15. Cost to play is $25. For more information, call 545-9112.

Diamond Club golf tourney is Aug. 17
Long County Diamond Club will host its first golf tournament Aug. 17 at Cherokee Rose Country Club.
Sign-in begins at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30. Proceeds will benefit the Long County Blue Tide baseball team. The fee is $60 per person. The tournament format is four-person, captain’s-choice scramble. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.
Prizes will be awarded for top three places, closest to pin, longest drive and hole-in-one on a selected hole.
