STATESBORO — About 900 tickets for the public remained as of Thursday for Georgia Southern’s football season home opener Saturday against Savannah State.
Due to the high demand for tickets and the limited space because of construction, general admission grass tickets will not be sold for this game. Fans can purchase reserved tickets by calling the Georgia Southern ticket office at 1-800-GSU-WINS or at GSEagles.com.
Students still can pick up tickets at the pep rally at Paulson Stadium Friday night from 5-9 p.m. at the Gate 4 ticket window. Students also can pick up tickets at Gate 4 on game day, beginning four hours before kickoff.

Men’s basketball
schedule announced
STATESBORO — The Georgia Southern men’s basketball team will have 31 regular-season games in its final season in the Southern Conference, the school’s athletic website recently reported.
The Eagles, who will be guided by first-year head coach Mark Byington, have five home dates before opening a 16-game league schedule. Included in the slate of games is a trip to the 2013 Cancun Challenge in November.
Non-conference games against Miami, West Virginia, Old Dominion, UAB, Kennesaw State, Campbell, North Carolina A&T, South Carolina State and future Sun Belt conference foe Georgia State highlight the schedule.
“We are very excited about the schedule that awaits us, it should prepare us well for our last season in the SoCon,” Byington said.
Georgia Southern begins the 2013-14 campaign against Columbia International at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Hanner Fieldhouse.
The full schedule is at gseagles.com.

Lower reserved seating starts at $90 with upper-level general-admission tickets available for $60 for the season.
GSU faculty and staff receive a $10 discount on season tickets.
