Bradwell Institute played Long County Saturday in a big rivalry game in Ludowici.
Neither school came away with complete bragging rights as the Blue Tide beat the Tigers 65-51, while the Lady Tigers beat the Lady Tide 51-34.

Long County head coach Deshon Brock said solid rebounding was one of the reasons his team was able to pull out the win.
“I thought we rebounded the ball a lot better,” Brock said. “And our energy on defense was a lot better versus the first time we played them.”
The leading scorers for the Blue Tide were Terry Smith, who led the team in shooting with 17 points, Christian Bass, who put up 14, Ryhiem Izzard who added 13, and Henry Blair, who had 10 points.

Brock said he was pleased with his team’s play and he hopes to continue being consistent on defense and work on limiting opponents on offensive rebounds.
With the win, Long County improved its overall record to 11-6, while Bradwell fell to 6-7.

On the girls side, the Lady Tigers improved their overall record to 7-9, while the Lady Tide fell to 7-8.
Tuesday, Long County’s teams were in Reidsville, taking on Tattnall County in a big 2-AAA matchup for both schools. Results for those games will be in an upcoming paper.

Friday, Long County hits the road again for more region action, taking on Brantley County in Nahunta.
The Herons currently sit at 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the region, while the Lady Heron also sit at 6-7, but are off in the region standings at 2-2.
The girls game begins at 7 p.m. and the boys are scheduled to follow at 8:30.
