Long teams get back-to-back wins

The Blue Tide beat the Benedictine Military School 55-51 Dec. 30, while the Lady Tide crushed New Hampstead 46-26 as the teams concluded their play in the Richmond Hill Holiday Classic.

In the girls game, the leading Long County scorers were Ellexus Wrighton, who had 10 points, Malaka Elix, who added 9, and Patra London, who chipped in 8. No stats for the men’s game were provided.
Friday, Long County’s teams faced Appling County in Baxley. In the boys game, the Blue Tide fell behind 27-29 at the half, but put up 27 points in the fourth period to seal the win 70-58. With the victory, Long County improved its overall record to 10-6 while remaining 2-1 in the 2-AAA Region.

The Lady Tide also had a good outing, beating the Lady Pirates 60-44 to improve their overall mark to 8-7 while they are still looking for their first win in the region sitting at 0-2.
On Saturday, the teams were back at home taking on Bradwell Institute. The Tigers went into the game with a 6-6 record while the Lady Tigers had posted a 6-9 mark. Results from these games will be in the Wednesday paper.

Tuesday, Long County will be back on the road taking on Tattnall County in important region games for both schools. Going into the game, the Warriors are 8-7 overall and 2-0 in the region. The Lady Warriors sit at 4-10 overall and 1-0 in the region. The games are in Reidsville with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m. and the boys follow at 7:30.
