Milner earns all-SoCon recognition

Senior defensive end KJ Milner was named to the SoCon Sports Media Association’s all-Southern Conference first team, and earned two second team honors.

Milner was named to the Phil Steele FCS all-Southern Conference second team and was named all-SoCon second team by league coaches.

Milner closed his final season with a career-high 45 tackles, including 24 solo stops. Among his squad-leading seven tackles for loss were a team-best six sacks, the sixth-most by an individual in the SoCon this season. The Bradwell Institute alum was credited with a team-leading seven quarterback hurries as a vital part of the WCU defensive attack that finished with 32 sacks on the season.

Milner closed his career by earning his first SoCon Defensive Player of the Week plaudits following the upset win over No. 17/15 Chattanooga.

Over his five seasons in Cullowhee, Milner recorded 154 tackles with 67 solo stops, 22 tackles for loss, and 10.5 total sacks.

In his final game as a Catamount, Milner battled through a case of the flu late in the week and managed to record seven tackles, including one for a loss. He also posted a quarterback hurry.

Milner helped the Catamounts to their first win over a ranked opponent since 2017. 

The SoCon's player of the week award winners are selected by the conference office from nominations submitted by the sports information or media relations personnel at each institution.
