The Long County High School football team traveled on Friday to Savannah, where they took on the fourth-ranked Benedictine Military School in the Tide’s last game of the season.
As they have all year, the Blue Tide played hard, but they were no match for the Cadets. BC took a 49-0 lead by the half and never looked back, beating the Blue Tide 65-15. The game was held at Savannah State University, and the few fans from Ludowici who made the trip were treated to a couple highlights in the second half. Brendon Scott scored on a 58-yard run, and Donnell Campbell scored on a 64-yard run.
With the region loss, the Blue Tide fell to 3-7 overall, while the Cadets improved their overall record to 8-2. The final standings in the region had Vidalia High School on top with a 7-0 mark (10-0), Benedictine at 6-1, Bacon County at 5-2 (6-4) and Bryan County at 4-3 (5-5). These four schools now will advance to the playoffs. Rounding out the 2-AA standings are Groves High School at 3-3 (6-4), Jeff Davis 2-5 (4-6), Long County 1-6 and McIntosh County 0-7 (0-10).
