Tide football does well on All-Region Team

Several Long County High School players were recently named to the All-Region 2-AA football team.         Wide receiver Ricky Rivera was the lone first-team pick. The senior, a three-year starter, piled up 72 receptions for 1,176 yards and 10 touchdowns this past season. The Blue Tide went 4-6, including 2-6 in the region.          Named to the All-Region 2-AA second team were quarterback Jake Durham wingback Justin Boyd and wide receiver Donte Brown.           Durham, a junior, was 175-for-315 passing for 2,290 yards and 24 touchdowns.          Boyd, a junior, ran the ball 41 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns. He added 36 receptions for 585 yards and eight scores.          Brown, also a junior, finished the season with 29 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns.          Also in Blue Tide football news, place-kicker Miguel Hernandez was chosen for the All-Region 2-AA freshman team.          For their efforts in the classroom and on the field, Long County’s Brandon Murphy, Shane White and Stevie Harrison were selected for the Region 2-AA All-Academic Team.
