The Bradwell Tigers took their third victory in a row Friday night, neutralizing the Johnson High Atomsmashers.
The Tigers shut out the Atomsmashers 16-0 in their second fourth-inning, run-rule game. This makes the Tigers 3-1 in 3-AAAAA region.
Steven Dill got the win on the mound for the Tigers striking out 10 of 12 batters.
“I kept telling the kids to trust me and keep working hard in practice,” Tiger coach Rhett Hellgren said. “They are starting to win and I can see that fire in their eyes now.”
With two region road games still ahead, the Tigers’ battles are not over. Their next road opponent is Jenkins Tuesday night.
“Jenkins and then Groves, they are two games we still need to get through,” the coach said. “It was a nice victory over Johnson but we still have region games ahead. The good thing is that I think the kids are finally starting to see that things will work out if we keep working hard at every game and every practice.”
The Tigers travel to Jenkins for a 4 p.m. game on Tuesday.
