Two LCRD All-Star teams win state championship

The LCRD 14 and Under Boys and 17U Boys All-Star basketball teams won Georgia Recreation and Parks Association State Championships earlier this month. And the 12U Girls were the State Runner-Up.
GRPA District 2 tournaments were played Feb. 23-24, with the 8U Girls, 10U Girls and 10U Boys playing at Charles Shuman Recreation Center in

Hinesville. District tournaments for all other teams were played in Douglas, except the 14U Girls who advanced straight to the State tournament.
The 8U Girls, 12U Girls, and 14U Boys teams won their District tournament to advance to the State tournament and the 17U Boys advanced to State as the District 2 Runner-Up.
In State tournament action, the 17U Boys defeated Harris County 67-29 in the first round and Union City 68-47 in the semi-finals to set up a rematch with Camden County, who defeated Liberty in the District 2 Championship game. Liberty proved to be the better team the second time around, winning the State Championship by a score of 55-43.

The 14U Boys were undefeated in All-Star District and State play. In the State tournament, the 14U team defeated Bremen 76-19 in the opening round and Butts County 73-41 in the semi-finals. Liberty faced a tough Hapesville squad in the championship but came away with a 70-63 win
Both the 17U Boys and 14U Boys state tournaments were played in Effingham County.
The 12U Girls won the District 2 Championship to advance to the State tournament in Bremen. Liberty won their opening round game against Calhoun, 55-12, and their semi-final match with Sumter County, 54-35, but fell to Union City in the Championship, 56-46.

The 8U Girls team played in Habersham County but lost to Jefferson, 22-18 in the opening round. The 14U Girls team played in Savannah, but lost to Habersham County in the opening round by a score of 47-22
Other LCRD All-Star teams included 8U Boys, 10U Boys #1, 10U Boys #2, 10U Girls, 12U Boys #1, and 12U Boys #2.
