Shawn Haines, an automobile enthusiast, spent 22 years as a mechanic. After he and his wife moved from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Fort Stewart last July, Haines made the change from working on cars to selling cars with Liberty Chrysler in Hinesville. Haines recently shared a list of his dream cars with the Courier.
• The Dodge Challenger is one of Haines’ top five because he said it has an elegant look with the
speed and agility to match. The challenger offers the perfect blend of elegance and power. It also has a close kinship with its predecessor from the ‘70s that makes it stand out more against other classic remakes, according to Haines.
•     The Dodge Ram 3500 makes Haines’ list because of its usefulness.
“The 3500 is a one-ton truck that is capable of pulling anything,” said Haines.
•    Another of Haines’ favorites is a blast from the past. “It would be a completely tricked-out 1967 Boss Mustang because it’s the epitome of the American muscle car of the ‘60s,” Haines said.
•    Haines’ next favorite is a rarity from his childhood. The Lotus Europa, Haines’ favorite hot wheel from his past, made the list because of its individuality.
“Its doors slide up instead of opening out and close down similar to a hatch,” said Haines.
•    But Haines’ ultimate dream car is more of a machine than a car, according to Haines. It’s a 2010 Harley Davidson Street Glide. This is Haines’ favorite because inside and out, “it’s a beautifully designed machine.”
