Carnival coming to Hunter
Weekly FMWR briefing for April 14-20

Carnival Tyme, featuring 19 rides, games, food and fun for children and adults, opens a four-day run at Hunter Army Airfield Thursday.

It will be behind Tominac Fitness Center. Hours are 6-10 p.m. April 17; 6-11 p.m. April 18; noon-11 p.m. April 19; and 1-11 p.m. April 20.

Everyone, including civilians, is welcome. Costs will range from three to four $1 tickets per ride. Arm bands, for unlimited rides, will be $25 per person per night.

Visitors should enter Hunter via the Montgomery Street gate. Drivers must be able to present a valid driver's license and passengers 16 years old and older must have photo identification.

 

Training holidays

Due to training holidays, Thunder Run will not offer lunch on Friday and Monday. Also, Bistro Night and Marne Call are closed on Friday. For more information, call 767-4717.    

 

Easter brunch

Enjoy Southern breakfast favorites, a carving station with bourbon glazed ham and other entrees, side dishes and desserts during the Easter brunch 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at Club Stewart.

Save $3 on adult and $1 on children’s meals by purchasing tickets by Thursday when prices go up to $17.95 for adults and $7.95 for children ages 3-10. Younger children eat free.

Toddler egg hunt

Bring your toddlers, up to 5, to a free Easter egg hunt especially for them April 21 at Cypress Creek. The hunt begins at 10 a.m. For more information, call 767-4273.

 

Toddler Earth Day

Also next Monday, toddlers (5 and younger) are invited to join Corkan staff in the yearly planting of the Toddler's Earth Day Flower Bed at Cypress Creek. It is free and begins right after the egg hunt. For more information, call 767-4273.

 

Earth Day in Hinesville 

The Hinesville community celebrates the planet and Earth Day from 3:30-6:30 p.m. April 22 at Liberty County YMCA soccer fields.

Fort Stewart MWR is partnering with Keep Liberty Beautiful on the event for all ages. There will be environmentally geared games, crafts, displays, and entertainment. For information, call 880-4888.

 

Dive-in movie

Bring the family to watch “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” at 6 p.m. April 25 in Tominac indoor pool. The Sony Pictures animated movie is rated PG. There is no charge. For more information, call 315-5078.

 

Month of the Military Child

Operation Megaphone Worldwide Lock-In, from 7 p.m.-7 a.m. April 25-26 at the Youth Activity Center will feature a midnight basketball tournament, dancing, cooking class, sumo wrestling, canned food drive, art project, live video with other installations around the world.

The lock-in is part of Month of the Military Child and is open to CYSS-registered youth (grades 6-12) from Stewart and Hunter. The cost is $25 or $20 and two canned goods. Space is limited. Registration ends April 23. For more information, call 767-4491.

 

Dinner and bowling

Families get discounts on dinner and bowling  from noon-7 p.m. April 27 at Stewart Bowling Center.

Bridal Expo

Everything you need for a wedding is under one roof from 1:30-4 p.m. April 27 at Club Stewart: hair and beauty, cakes and catering, travel and entertainment, jewelry and fashion, photography, limousines, music, and prizes.

The Bridal Event and Expo is open to the public.

Admission costs $5 for military ID cardholders and $7 others. Registered attendees will receive gift bags and chances to win prizes. More than 200 wedding dresses will be given away to future military brides.

T-ball, baseball

Register to play Fort Stewart Youth Sports’ T-ball and baseball. Play begins in May. The cost for non-competitive T-ball (ages 4-6) is $20 per child. Coaches needed

Crossfit competition

Sign up today for the two-day CrossFit Fort Stewart Warrior Competition 2014 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. May 2-3 at Caro Fitness Center.

Contestants in six categories must complete four high intensity workouts. Register online at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/Stewartrectrac.html.

Registration through April 15 is $25 per person. Later registration is $35 through April 30.

Mega Bingo  

Win up to $85,000 in cash and prizes at Mega Super Bingo May 4 from 1 p.m. until midnight at Hunter Bingo, 135 Duncan Drive.
