Fort Stewart Leisure Travel Office in the PX Furniture Mall, has changed its hours. Weekday hours have been extended to 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The office is closed Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

 

CG's Golf Scramble

You’re invited to Maj. Gen. Mike Murray’s four-person scramble Friday at Hunter Golf Course. The scramble gets under way at 8 a.m.

The $35 per person cost includes golf cart fees, driving range and prizes. Players are asked to register by Thursday. For more information, call 315-9115.

 

Volleyball league

Companies wanting to prove who has the best volleyball team on Fort Stewart or Hunter should submit a memo to the Bennett Sports Complex on Stewart or Squires Sports Complex at Hunter. Register by March 31.

Easter egg roll

The Hinesville Downtown Development Authority and Fort Stewart MWR invite all to the Easter Egg Roll at Bryant Commons from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 5.

There will be kite flying, lawn games, breakfast with the Easter Bunny, a movie, scavenger hunt and more.

Characters on Hunter

Children can meet their favorite character, and maybe get an autograph, at the Character Meet and Greet from 1-3 p.m. April 5 at Hallstrom Lake at Hunter.

Disney, Pixar and other characters are expected to be there.

Color run

Register now for the Extreme Color Run April 5 through the Holbrook Outdoor Recreation Area.

The untimed event will take runners approximately five kilometers through Holbrook’s campground and tank trails. The runners will be “colored” as they pass different stations. The run will begin at 9 a.m.

Long range shooting

Soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and guests cansight-in large caliber weapons April 5 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Red Cloud Range Complex-Echo.

Bring your rifles or muzzle loaders of any caliber. Targets are at 100 to 1,000 meters. The cost is $10 per two-hour block/person. Register at the Pass and Permit Office or onsite.

Lt. Dan Band Concert

Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will be in concert at 5 p.m. April 6 at Donovan Field on Fort Stewart. The free event is presented by the USO in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation. Those attending are asked to bring their own seating.

Pets, smoking, grills, coolers, glass bottles and weapons are prohibited. Vendors will be on-site.

 

Power lifting

“The Rock” Power Lifting and Bench Press Competition is set for April 12 at Newman Fitness Center. Weigh-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the competition at 10:15.

Contestants will be placed into a weight class and must complete a bench press to qualify for an award. Each competitor will attempt three lifts. The highest overall weight lifted will determine the winners.

Awards will be presented to the top lifters. 

Registration until March 28 costs $10. The fee is $15 March 29-April 12.

Bass tournament

A Catch and Release Bass Tournament will begin at 6 a.m. April 12 at Metz Pond.

Cash prizes are $250 for first-place (heaviest combined weight of up to five bass) and $100 for the largest bass.

Anglers can fish from the bank or bass boat (trolling motors only). No live bait will be permitted.

Participants must have proper fishing permits if they are 15 and older). Fees vary and are based on registration.

The tournament is open to everyone, even civilians.

Post-wide garage sale

Registration now for the Great FMWR Post-Wide Housing Garage Sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. April 12 on Fort Stewart and Hunter.

There is no charge to sell. Registration ensures your sale is mapped for buyers.

Only residents of post housing are eligible to sell, but everyone, including civilians, can shop.

Babysitting course

Teens can become certified babysitters at the SKIES CYSSitter Teenage Babysitter Course from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. April 14 and 15.

The free course will be at SKIES Unlimited on Davis Avenue. At least five students are needed to schedule and participants must attend both days to be certified.

Bring a 4-person team or join a team for the Hunter Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble April 11 at Hunter Golf Course. Registration will close April 10.
