STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University is getting ready to send 2,000 Christmas cards to American troops serving overseas, but school officials need help signing them all.

Students, faculty and community members are being invited to sign the cards Wednesday through Friday at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on the Statesboro campus between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Georgia Southern President Brooks Keel was scheduled to pitch in and sign several of the Christmas cards Wednesday afternoon.

The university's Division of Continuing Education is helping sponsor the Christmas card campaign. The cards will be mailed overseas to U.S. service members spending their holiday deployed in Afghanistan.
