The 2nd Brigade Combat Team's Home Detachment Command Team, Lt. Col. Thomas Cunningham, commander, 26th Brigade Support Battalion and Command Sgt. Maj. Alexis Ayala, Command Sergeant Major, 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery, spent time with wounded Spartan Soldiers at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., this August.

The Spartan Soldiers Raymond Kusch, Company A, 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry, and Spc. Kristian Cedeno and Spc. Kevin Jaye, Co. B, 1st Bn., 64th Armor, Combined Arms Battalion, were wounded in Afghanistan and receiving treatment for their injuries at Walter Reed.

Their spirits are extremely high. They are truly appreciative of any and all contact from their comrades still serving in Afghanistan, including the Soldiers and Families supporting from Fort Stewart, Lt. Col. Cunningham said.

"The Army Family is important. We are committed to our deployed Soldiers and proud of the sacrifices that they and their Family make each and every day," Lt. Col. Cunningham said.

Currently, the Third Infantry Division has Soldiers deployed throughout Afghanistan. It is a difficult time for both Soldiers and Families.

The command team also wanted to remind everyone that it is important to let our Soldiers know that we are supporting them back home.

"Soldiers should contact their home detachment command teams for ways they can show gratitude and support to our fellow 3rd ID deployed military personnel who risk their lives so that we can enjoy the blessings of freedom and security," said Command Sgt. Maj. Alexis Ayala, Command Sergeant Major, 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery.
