Fiction foretells U.S. military taking on pirates
Chasing Pirates
The cover to Harry Rubin's book
Editor, In October 2006, I published a novel about modern day pirates. Its title is “Chasing Pirates” and it is about pirates attacking vessels off Yemen and Somalia and holding crew members for ransom.
In the story I wrote, the U.S. Navy is given a mission to combat piracy. The Office of Naval Intelligence gives the job to a small, elite crew that sends a small vessel into harm’s way.
It seems I was a few years ahead in thinking and writing about the piracy situation now facing ships in the Indian Ocean. I followed up that novel with four more adventure novels using the same U.S. Navy crew as main characters.
