Sports camp

 

Former Bradwell Institute standout and current New England Patriot football player Gary Guyton will host a two-day sports camp in Hinesville March 11-12.

The event kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday with a Pros vs. Teachers celebrity basketball game at Bradwell Institute. Admission is $5 in advance or $8 at the door, ages 5 and under admitted free. Autographed T-shirts will be sold for $10 in advance or $15 at the event.

At 9 p.m., there will be a celebrity sports night at Doodle’s, 105 West General Screven Way. Admission is $30 in advance or $40 at the door. Military admission is $20 in advance or $30 at the door. Adults and kids are welcome and price of admission includes food and drinks. This is an opportunity to bring a camera and take pictures, sign autographs and mingle with Guyton and NFL players Michael Jones of the Bengals and Darryl Richards of the Patriots

Saturday gets under way at 9 a.m. with free youth football and cheer camps at Bradwell Institute for kids grades 1-6. Admission is limited to the first 150 kids for football and first 25 for cheerleading and will be on a first come, first serve basis.

The football clinic includes football instruction with NFL players and an autograph session. The cheer clinic concentrates on basic cheer skills including jumps, motions and moves. No previous cheer experience is necessary.

At noon there will be a free varsity skills football camp at Bradwell Institute for kids in grades 7-12, limited to the first 150 to sign up.

At 2 and 2:30 p.m., there will be half hour seminars for parents on NCAA eligibility. Register in advance online at http://flyingcolorssports2.info.

Hurricanes meeting

The Hinesville Hurricanes will host their yearly players’ meeting at 6 p.m. March 14 at the Live Oak Church in Hinesville. Registration fees are $125. The meeting is open to players and anyone interested in trying out for the team.

Golf with pro

Civilians in communities surrounding Hunter Army Airfield are invited to play golf with a future PGA or LPGA Tour star March 10 at the Omni Financial-Ohio Wesleyan University College Am. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. at Hunter Golf Club.

The cost for civilian guests is $60 per person. The sign-up deadline is March 8. To register or to learn more about the tournament, call the Hunter Golf Club at 912-315-9115

 

Tourney

The first annual Middle School All-Star basketball tournament will be held at 2 p.m. March 12, at Midway Middle School and will feature players from all around southeast Georgia. Admission is $5.
