Attorney to speak at 11 Black Men banquet

The Eleven Black Men of Liberty County will have its 14th Annual Banquet in Club Stewart on Fort Stewart on March 8.
There will be a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the dinner at 7. W. Ray Persons, attorney and partner at King & Spalding LLP in Atlanta will be the speaker.
Persons is a native of Talbotton and a 1975 cum laude graduate of the then Armstrong State College. He attended Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University, where he earned his juris doctor degree in 1978.
King & Spalding is an international law firm with more than 800 lawyers in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, London, New York, Dubai, Frankfurt, Riyadh and Washington, D.C. The firm represents many Fortune 500 companies.
Persons' practice focuses on complex litigation, including mass torts, class actions and commercial litigation. He regularly appears in federal and state courts throughout the country and has served as lead counsel in more than 60 jury trials.
He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the International Society of Barristers. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, and he has served as an adjunct professor at the Georgia State University Law School.
He has been recognized as one of the "Legal Elite" by Georgia Trend magazine. Persons and his wife, Wendy, live in Atlanta. They have a son, Conrad, and a daughter, April.
