On Dec. 7, Hinesville employees and officials participated in the Georgia Municipal Association’s Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade, a program that provides holiday gifts for patients at Georgia Regional Hospital.

Proceeds from the Healthy Hinesville 5K were used to buy items for patients. More than $3,200 was raised for the effort.

The program, begun in 1958 by the GMA in cooperation with then Governor Ernest Vandiver and his wife Betty Vandiver, relies on citizen participation in each city to donate gifts for the patients.
