It’s revival time once again at Fleming Baptist Church in Fleming.
The church’s revival services started today and will continue through Wednesday. This year’s celebration is special because Liberty County native Pastor Joe Eason is the guest evangelist.
Born and raised in Liberty County, Eason is the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils. He started at Trinity in 1975 and has been the church’s only pastor. Before he moved to Nevils, Eason was the pastor of four other Southern Baptist churches.
Today’s service is at 6 p.m., and there will be additional services at 7 nightly Monday-Wednesday. Music will be featured each night.
“Brother Eason was ordained at Gum Branch Baptist and
has been the pastor at Trinity for 35 years. Not many pastors stay in one place for 35 years,” said Pastor Major Dykes of Fleming Baptist. “Brother Eason has a lot of family and friends in this area.”
Eason started as a youth
minister in Hinesville while attending college.
After attending Brewton-Parker College and Georgia Southern University, Eason was a Christian
educator for 25 years at Pinewood Christian Academy in Bellville. He also taught college courses at Brewton-Parker. Eason finished his graduate studies at Georgia Southern College and Luther Rice Seminary.
Dykes and the members of Fleming Baptist Church invite the public to their revival and Bible study sessions every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. The church has worship services on Sundays at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and prayer/discipleship and children/youth activities on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
