I am sitting in my office writing this after having witnessed several hours of steady rain. I originally had plans outside that were disrupted by these showers.
My mind went immediately to a particular scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 in which the writer tells us to "give thanks in all circumstances." I want you to notice it doesn’t say "for all circumstances," but God can still bring about good out of any and all circumstances.
As in my situation today, I can honestly give thanks for the rain.
It has been hot at my house and dry as well. The last few rains went around us. So, we need this rain to water the lawn, the flowers and for the first time in years, my small garden. The rain also has cooled things off; for a few weeks now, we have had highs in the 90s to near 100 degrees.
I don’t know what you are going through, but I do know that there is good that can come out of it.
You might not even see it in this lifetime, but if you are a believer, you can trust in what Romans 8:28 reminds us when it says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
So, learn to be thankful even when you don’t feel like it, and remember that God always loves you and is working out his plan through you.
