Lose weight, take a cruise, save money, relocate, reduce debt, go back to school. As you read this article, people around the world are making New Year’s resolutions or setting goals to achieve this year. Some of us have dreams and visions that we’ve never taken a step to accomplish. I challenge you today to make a move. The results may change your life for the better, but you will never know until you try.
To move means to advance. For whatever vision God has given you, you are required to move to accomplish the task. Without a move, your vision remains just a vision. Millions of dreamers have never brought their dreams to reality because they didn’t move.
The Bible says in Habakkuk 2:2: “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”
It’s OK to have a vision and then write the vision, but at some point you must run with the vision. In other words, you’ve got to move forward with the plans God has placed in your hands.
Is fear stopping your move? One of the most common problems we have when trying to move is fear. Some are afraid they’ll fail, others are concerned about what people may say, and still others are afraid to go through the process. We must understand that fear is not of God. As a Christian I’ve adopted this saying, “Never fear what God has the power to change.”
In this New Year, go beyond just talking and writing about your hopes and dreams. It’s time to bust a move! First things first, make sure that your relationship with Christ is your first priority. Find a good Bible-based church and be faithful. Pray that fear of the unknown is removed from your mindset, and know that you have the power to accomplish great things through Christ.
Write your visions and goals down on paper. Statistics tell us that just thinking about it usually means we’ll end up not doing it. God has placed within us dreams, hopes, vision and the creative mind to get the job done, but you’ve got to move. Move into 2012 at full speed and never look back. Happy New Year — let’s move!
