SAVANNAH — Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Inc. awarded Chrishaunda Paige of Hinesville the Girl Scout Gold Award during a formal ceremony May 4.
According to a news release, the Gold Award, the highest award that a Girl Scout can earn, recognizes the work of Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, ninth–12th graders, who have outstanding accomplishment in the areas of leadership, community service and personal development.
Each girl working toward the Girl Scout Gold Award spends a minimum of 80 hours planning and implementing a leadership project.
Chrishaunda titled her project “Dance and Cheer Camp.” She worked with the Parks and Recreation Department, Bradwell Band Majorettes and the Fort Stewart Youth Department to organize a girl empowerment day for more than 40 girls.
The council awarded 12 Gold Awards this year council-wide.
