Ludowici beekeeper David Myers recently treated members of the Goldenheirs group to a sweet treat when he presented luncheon attendees each with their own jar of honey.

Myers spoke in November to the group about the interactions between bees, flowers and allergies to honey. Gallberry, an evergreen honey, is the best, Myers told the club. He also explained the many uses of honey and provided facts about bees.

A queen bee can live up to three or four years and lays about 2,000 eggs per day despite mating only once in her life.

The Goldenheirs’ next meeting is Monday, Dec. 10, at noon. They will hold a Christmas dinner catered by Lynn Cannon, and comedian “Cousin Arthur” will be the featured speaker.
