Liberty Countians will have the opportunity to visit with Santa and his reindeer, create holiday-themed arts and crafts, decorate cookies and join in caroling at the seventh annual Christmas in the Park from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in downtown Hinesville’s Bradwell Park. The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority host the free event, which, will end with the crowd singing “Silent Night” as the community Christmas tree is lit. Baking aficionados will team to showcase their skills in a challenge that’s sure to satisfy sugar junkies. The Cupcake War is free and allows the public to sample treats and vote for their favorites, and it raises funds for arts programming. The event is from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the National Guard Armory on Highway 84 in Hinesville.

Enjoy an evening of Christmas cheer at the 17th annual Illuminated Christmas Parade, which weaves its way through much of the downtown business district with bands, floats, dancers and even some horse-drawn participants. The procession starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in the heart of Hinesville. This year’s theme “Red, White and Blue Christmas ... A Salute to our Troops,” and it is organized by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.
