The American Red Cross has set a blood drive for Friday at Liberty Regional Medical Center and you can make make your child's dreams come true by participating.
Everyone who donates blood or platelets to the Red Cross in Georgia this month will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a Disney vacation package for four.
The blood drive at the hospital here will be from 1-6 p.m.
The package includes roundtrip Delta Air Lines tickets, two-day passes to Disney World and a three-night stay at the Clarion Hotel Universal - Orlando.
"Disney World is a dream vacation for most children and fun for the entire family," said Mario Sedlock, director of donor services, American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region. "By taking just an hour out of one day to give blood, you will not only have the chance to give your family a magical vacation, you can also help save up to three lives."
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. About 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to give blood, but only eight percent of them actually donate. The Southern Blood Services Region must collect at least 1,200 units of blood each weekday to meet the needs of patients in more than 130 hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the region.
Blood donors must be at least 17, in generally good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. Blood can be donated every 56 days, and platelets can be donated every two weeks.
